This qualification reflects the role of community service workers who deliver and support person-centred services to individuals and groups. Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual persons, groups or communities across a range of services.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Entry Requirements

Blended Learning Model: Classroom (face-to-face), self-study, simulated workplace activities and online learning.
English Language Requirements
Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall or equivalent*. For equivalency of various English Language proficiency testing, and
other forms of equivalency please refer to the Student Handbook on Study of Australian Technologies and
Healthcare Education.
OR
A minimum of two (2) years of study at an AQF Level 4 or higher completed in Australia
Academic Requirement
Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification is required for entry into the qualification.
Age Requirement
Students must be a minimum age of 18 years or above at the time of course commencement.
Initial Skills Assessment
All students will undertake an initial skills assessment to determine suitability for the course, including language, literacy and numeracy (LLN), and any student needs. The review aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, the relevance of the course and relevant experience. Determination of course suitability and additional support (if any) will be made by a qualified assessor.
Technology requirements
Access to suitable laptop / desktop with the necessary software (eg Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader), internet, camera and microphone.
The course duration is 52 weeks (12 months) (including 40 weeks study period and 12 weeks term break)
